Piestewa Peak

We had a great weekend visiting with old friends in Phoenix.  They have a lovely home that overlooks a majestic landmark.

Squaw Peak was officially renamed for Piestewa.  The U.S. Board on Geographic Names changed the name of the prominent Phoenix mountain to Piestewa Peak to honor the first American Indian woman to die in combat while serving in the U.S. military.
