Struggling with this one...
Glazing model vehicles is my Achillie's Heel. I spend hours cutting, fettling and sanding to get a perfect fit and the along comes the tricky bit - THE GLUE! Super glue is good for a first fit but it discolours the plastic glazing with a milky colour.
Plastic cement won't adhere to resin and some plastics are celluloid based and it doesn't stick to that material either. After much trial and error, mainly error, I've started using a clear glazing glue, PVA based I think. It eventually sticks very well but takes an hour or so to dry.
Consequently I end up using low tack tapes to keep these windscreens in place until the glue dries. Trouble is it's only low tack until you want to remove the damned stuff then it doesn't want to give and you risk pulling out the very thing you've just glued in. All glues damage the undercoating but glazing needs to be placed on top of other colours so that's another issue to correct.
The scruffy model you see here has had about 5 hours of work on it so far, new destination boxes and a toilet compartment fitted. There are probably another 7/8 hours of work before it's ready.
Since I first posted, and after another failed attempt, the screen has been pulled out and I'm having a rethink.
