Sarracenia farnhamii

Recently I got even older than I have been.  Coincidentally Kanyl found himself with a surfeit of Sarracenia so along with other celebrations I inherited this Sarracenia.   My last died of drought while we were away on holiday.

S farnhamii  is a natural hybrid between Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia rubra.   Sarracenia or Pitcher plants as they are more commonly known are carnivorous plants.  Plants adopt this method of topping up their nutrients particularly nitrogen which is usually in short supply in the wet boggy areas which are their natural habitat.
