OUCH!!!

I went to bed early last night after having had the cortisone injection in my foot yesterday - it was uncomfortable and slightly painful.

And THEN!! I woke up at about 3am in excruciating pain!! The injection includes an anaesthetic and I guess it had worn off! I was up for a couple of hours - hobbled downstairs and ate something so I could take some painkillers. I tried to distract myself and watch TV. I was pretty stunned by how much pain there was. I was exhausted and hobbled back upstairs and went to bed. It was hard to get the frozen peas on my foot while I was IN bed and I’m amazed I actually fell back to sleep and slept til 9.

I stayed in my PJs all day. Walking was a real challenge and the stairs more so. Thank goodness I have a toilet downstairs! I had to cancel an appointment with the Orthotics doctor today even though they said I’d be OK to see him the next day after the cortisone injection. My neighbours brought me some food from Waitrose that I’d forgotten to get yesterday, and a friend came over this afternoon to keep me company and watch a nature programme on TV with me. I took my pain killers very regularly all day.

This bag of peas, alternating with another one in my freezer, pretty much stayed on my foot all day. I was in good spirits but it DID hurt. By bedtime I felt that the pain maybe started to ease a bit. I was eager for bed!
