Micklegate

This the Micklegate in York taken from my bedroom window this morning. I've been staying in the Premier Inn near to here and it is in the perfect place. It's almost exactly a mile away from the church where our meetings have been taking place so I've managed to keep my steps up while I've been here. It's also less than a mile from the town centre.
Micklegate means great Street, from the Norse and the gateway is one of the old entrances to York. Many monarchs have passed through the gateway and the heads of several notable royals were displayed here during the Wars of the Roses! I'm not sure who the figures on top represent but they are rather striking.
I'd have enjoyed the meetings I've been at even more, had I not been responsible for taking the minutes, but heh ho, I've done my stint now, somebody else will have to step up next time a sub is needed. It's been lovely meeting up with everybody again from across the UK.
After our meeting today, which included an amazing lunch, for cake selection see extra, I moved out of the hotel and into a 15th century house which does Airbnb and is nearby. My sister came across from Leeds and we've been out on the town this evening, well for a drink and dinner! A wee bonus to see her and have some time catching up.
Steps today 20,020
