A quest for trees
As we awoke to a sunny morning we set off to see some fine trees. We headed to Skelghyll Wood and it’s tall trees trail (try saying that quickly!).
This lovely ancient woodland is home to the tallest Wellingtonia and Douglas Fir in Cumbria at 54m each, and the tallest Grand Fir in England, at 58m.
They are around 150 years old, just babies by North American standards but mighty impressive none the less.
Well worth a visit!
