Morning Light at Gray's Cemetery
A very well kept secret is that some of our most amazing golden colors in the trees do not arrive until the first week of November. It's often the best week for that row of trees I like to photograph along the lane to the PSU president's house. It is also the case for the pretty tree row at Gray's Cemetery, near Stormstown.
I have been passing the cemetery twice each day, and every time, I look longingly at it. But the light hasn't been good, and these trees really deserve to be lit up with the best light of all, which is morning light. Finally, on this morning, there was the thing we'd all been waiting for: the gift of good light.
So I made a quick stop on my drive to work, and I walked all around the edge of the cemetery near the road, where the amazing yellow trees are. There is a farm field across the road, with neat patterns and rows and textures. For November is all about the textures, you see.
There are many flags in the cemetery, and I enjoy lighting them up with the sun behind them. I took many photos out of the pure joy of the golden trees and the light. This was one of my favorites.
Hello, tree of light.
Hello, golden farm field with your neat, orderly rows.
Hello, beautiful flags, blowing in a tiny breeze.
Hello, cemetery peeps, sleeping peacefully in this lovely place.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.
The soundtrack song is Taps, played at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
