8 Years.
I met up with a friend of mine from years back today. We actually met at anti-natal group 28 years ago. Her daughter was born a day after Daughter Number 1 and Sue was most upset that I was leaving the maternity ward just as she was coming in!!!
Sue and I have remained good friends ever since. For one reason or another, we haven't seen each other for almost 3 years !!! Why does life get too busy!!! We had a lovely catch up and have tried to arrange a gathering nearer Christmas for all the children at her house, just like we used to do when they were all little.
Sue has 2 dogs and a handful of chickens. Bella thought it was great fun to chase one around the garden - a chicken that is!. I was a bit shocked as she will usually leave them if I tell her to but she just couldn't resist. Luckily Sue was great about it!!
Then in the evening I went with Mr W to Lewes Bonfire leaving Daughter Number 2 Puppy Sitting in case there were local fireworks. I didn't want to leave Bella on her own tonight. Actually I never left her on her own in the evening.
We drive to Mr W's Lady Friend Linda's house in Ringmer and got a lift with her son to town. The procession was a bit smaller than usual and quite disjointed and Mr W also met up with another old friend and they spent all night reminiscing about their childhood in Lewes. I think they spent longer in the pubs than watching the parade so I was getting a bit piddled off with it all. The buses back to Lindas were not running so we ended up walking the 3 miles which would have been fine if Mr W hadn't have mistaken me telling him to be careful not to slip off the kerb in the dark and wet for him thinking I meant don't slip off the kerb due to the 4 beers he had had and he walked off ahead in a huff - on his own - in the dark and wet leaving Linda and I to walk back together. It made the journey back in the car a nice quiet one!!
Today also marks 8 years since loosing my dad to bowel cancer. So maybe I was already feeling a bit gloomy as Fireworks always remind me if him going up to heaven. So I will remember him next year with a Sparkler or 2 and leave the Lewes Bonfire to Mr W and his friends.
