Being a tourist
Today was a non-pupil day at school which initially I thought was a bit rubbish, seeing as they only went back on Monday. Then thinking again, decided to make the most of what would be a relatively quiet day in London and hit the Science Museum and have a wander up Regent Street to Hamley's and have some lovely dinner out with a friend and her home-schooled son.
Lots of time was spent looking at the space things in the museum, and it was even quiet enough for the children to have lots and lots of fun playing with all the different things in "The Garden", basement level general fun-ness, and basically not feel crowded in or out of doing things. Then we got the tube, walked up Regent Street looking in the windows of the beautiful shops until (finally... to the children's delight) reaching Hamley's! A few things were bought (and a few photos taken with the amazing Lego statues!) then off for a delicious 3 course meal on New Oxford Street in Prezzos. Eventually back home to Essex, tired but happy :)
Although, as an ex-Londoner, visiting as a tourist always feels a bit strange!
