Nesting site

In the middle of town there's a derelict site from a hotel wrecked by the earthquakes - all concrete and twisted reinforcing rod, with a pool of water underneath - the the black billed gulls  - the world's rarest gull, and the red billed gulls have chosen to nest there in quite a large colony - to the delight of passers by!
