Algol Programming

Practicing for a still life session at my camera club.

My first programming job used Algol 60, and early and influential computer language. The computer, an Elliott 503, was ancient by the time I saw it, but the language was an ideal introduction to the craft.

Tony Hoare, who wrote the compiler I used, famously said "a language so far ahead of its time that it was not only an improvement on its predecessors but also on nearly all its successors."
