Floating balance

I returned to the expected backlog of work which I collected from the shop in the morning. I had a call in the afternoon to say that somebody had brought in three more clocks this afternoon. There must be a bush telegraph when I get back. My dentist is away until next week but I was able to see his colleague for an emergency appointment. I have to go in again tomorrow to have a crown removed but she is not convinced that the pain is emanating from the decay underneath. We shall see.
For those technically minded, this is a floating balance escapement which is suspended from an helical spring. It regulates the timekeeping on some twentieth century clocks.
