Scottish bear....

in actual fact the coat of arms of Lindore Abbey and assumed by it as the first Abbot was a cadet of the family of the Earl of Warwick.
The hills above the village have a huge, 80’ carving on the ground of the bear and ragged staff and it is visible from quite a distance, although hardly visible at all today!
A pretty foul day of rain and greyness.
