Dark Circle, Black Horse, Margate

After yesterday's terrible day weather wise the outlook for today was much better, so we decided to go to one of our favourite places when the sun shines, Margate.
The journey down was great, seeing the colours of autumn finally begin to burst in to life - is it just me or does it seem later this year? As soon as we arrived it was straight to a cafe for a doorstep sausage sandwich and a nice hot coffee - we were both starving! Then it was time for a walk along the golden sands where I took the first extra, "Life's A Beach", and today it certainly was. I was wrapped up in a big coat and scarf but with the warming rays of the sun I was far too hot rather than too cold.
The second extra is from the centre of town and is called "Marilyn Shutters Up". You can see the town is slowly reviving after years of neglect, I just hope it doesn't become another property hotspot where local people are gradually edged out by the cost of buying a house or paying the rent.
The third extra, "No Exit From The Stage", was taken at the site of the old lido. The lido building itself is in an awful state, covered in graffiti and with damp almost oozing from the walls in a green slime. The part of the lido in the image is where the saltwater pool used to be and these kids were mucking about on this "stage" and I just loved how they were caught by the gorgeous late afternoon sun.
Just as we left the last of the golden, buttery light disappeared so we were so lucky. The journey back was uneventful apart from being caught in a big traffic jam to do with the fireworks display at Leeds Castle. Once past that, and after a sudden torrential downpour, we had time to pop to the pub for a quick pint. Bliss!
