Baden

We were invited to a friends 50th birthday party, and met in Baden. The birthday boy arranged a historic city tour, which was fantastic, Baden is steeped in history. This is the Stadttor, or city gate. The tower was started in 13 century, then finished in the middle of 15th. Between then and 1984 it was the city prison. We got to look around, the macabre primitive cells with no toilets, no showers which were used until the mid 80’s.
We learned about the many different torture methods used over the years, and that 30 women were burned/tortured and killed since 15th century.
After, we went for a wonderful meal at the hotel Belvédère, with a great view down on to the city.
