The Tallest

After a weekend of on/off working and not achieving much we were off to the Usher Hall tonight to see Kristian Matsson... AKA The Tallest Man On Earth (he isn't). Setlist.fm tells me I first saw him in 2010 at the Green Man festival and again there in 2012 and I remembering when limbering up for GM (i,.e. playing the GM Spotify playlist to familiarise yourself with 90% of the lineup you don't know in the hope you choose the right acts to watch) that he was initially hard to get into. His song writing and melodies are excellent, but his voice is probably more Bob Dylanish then Bob Dylan... and it took a number of plays to get over that and go with it. And it was so worth it. 

Performing solo with a variety of acoustic and electric guitars and a banjo, he puts on some show... so funny, dances, covers the whole of the stage, and makes a sound like several people playing guitars. I can hear all the individual parts, mostly finger picking, but how can he play that thing while doing that other thing, I don't know... totally amazing. And his songs are just fab. And a perfect sitty downy view.
