Superstitious mind

I haven't quite got to grips with the French festive season. La Saint Nicolas, le Réveillon... not a single firework on New Year's Eve (la Saint-Sylvestre), but seemingly celebrations throughout January?! Baffling. English to the coeur I presumed this Nativité sympa would magically melt away by the 6th of the month... or be tossed into Parisian gutters along with all the cute city christmas trees littered there since the turn of 2013. Guess I was wrong again...
