River Tyne Meanders

This beach is known locally as Little Beach and it is where the River Tyne in East Lothian (not to be confused with the River Tyne in Northumberland) runs in sweeping wide arcs into the sea at Belhaven Bay (top right in the photograph). Although it looks relatively flat the actual course of the river is quite deep and makes impossible to wade across the Tyninghame Woods on the other side of the bay.
