Hunkering Down

Silly Saturday: hunkering down

"Right, that's it my neck is officially not coming out until Spring."

Poor old pigeon, he has been sitting on that feeder for some hours now and the rain has been unrelenting throughout.  I do feel sorry for him, and that despite their being amongst the least deserving of the birds that visit us.  Fortunately the weather is very mild so he will survive, but boy is it grey and wet.  Its most definitely not a day for being outside for longer than you have to be.

In the interim I've been busy with the chores - the bread rolls are now baked for next week and the Christmas cake is baking in the oven.  The smell of cooking Christmas cake is a sure fire sovereign remedy for the November blues, if you ever need one.  I reckon that there's another two hours of cooking time left, and then it will be time to get on with cooking this evening's dinner.

As you can tell I've been closeted in the kitchen, slaving away.  But there's music playing and I'm enjoying myself.  I hope your Saturday is going well.

There, you see I got through that whole entry and I didn't once mention the absolute Brexit that the English rugby team made of the final with South Africa.  Oops.
