The kitchen......

.....is smelling of Christmas! The Christmas cake is on it's way :-) I use a Delia Smith recipe for an Irish Whiskey cake, this involves simmering all the dried fruit and spices with 300 mls of Irish Whiskey for 20 minutes, letting it cool and then putting it in the fridge for a week before actually baking the cake. I've used this recipe for a few years now and so far it has never failed. It will be a little different this year, I wasn't about to use my best Bushmills Whiskey, so it has French Brandy from Lidl instead. The kitchen is smelling pretty good - and I hope the cake will taste just as good.
