Polle

...is a village on the upper river Weser, where my mother was born and I spent a few years in my early youth. This old painting hangs on my father’s living room wall and shows the ruined castle on the eponymous hill (poll), and the ferry master’s house with a Bark. The modern car ferry is still operated by the water current, a reaction ferry. On the German Wikipedia site, this Ferry is depicted.
