Life in a Northern Town

Saunton Sands

We had a lovely last day - a walk on the beach, pancakes in the beach cafe, then a couple of hours watching the surfers from the house - surfing seems to be 99% standing and getting whacked in the face by the waves and 1% falling off the board and getting whacked in the face by the waves...

In the afternoon we went to Saunton Sands, where Lizzie had a last run on the sand (see extras) and we got back to Woolacombe just before the weather closed in. The forecast was for severe storm force winds overnight and into Saturday - as the house is on an exposed clifftop we didn't fancy packing the roof box up in high winds so we took a very spur of the moment decision to drive home Friday night. It was a long old drive but by 1am we were tucked up in our own beds and are very grateful for being home this morning.

It was another lovely trip to Woolacombe - I miss the sea already.
