Brean Down Fort

A still, cool winter's day with clear blue skies and perfect light for a walk on Brean Down this morning, so we braved the 100+ steps to the top to find it relatively deserted: a couple of climbers making a roped descent, and just a few other walkers. Lots of potential blips to choose from (see Brean Down in blipfolio) but liked this one of the Victorian Fort, commissioned by Palmereston amid growing fears of a French Invasion under Napoleon 3rd and completed in 1870. The islands of Steepholme and Flatholme (distant features of this blip a few days ago) lie in the Bristol Channel behind.
