Another old friend
Mum met Keith when he was 16. She and his mother taught at the same school in Sunderland. The families became friends and they took us out occasionally in their car. (Once Keith let me ride on the back of his motor scooter!)
They introduced us to Westgate in Weardale. We had a holiday in a cottage there. It was memorable, not least because Mum survived a lightning strike on the outdoor tap while she was filling a cut-glass jug with water. The current went down the tap and Mum was sent flying backwards through the air. The jug was smashed to smithereens.
Keith lives in Sunderland and is in touch at Christmas and perhaps once or twice during the year. He reckoned that the last time he was here was for Mum's 80th, when we had a garden party and the Cobweb Orchestra played. There was catching up with his family news and some reminiscing.
This afternoon Ann brought her granddaughter Lucy to see us. They brought various craftwork they have done or are doing.
In my blip, you can see Mum's new spectacles. She sees much better with these. The next step will be to have bifocals so she can do some embroidery again.
