The Rookery: Goldcrest Washing

Spot the UK's littlest bird in large.

I went to locate The Rookery (formal gardens and café) on Streatham Common in the morning, and it was well worth finding... The cafe is just a large shed on the common, but the (Curious Roo roastery) coffee was surprisingly enjoyable and the location was appealing, and the gardens and spaces of The Rookery itself were beautiful and bustling with wildlife... I just had the little camera in the morning so photographed the views and wood pigeons, but went back in the early afternoon with the D850, and photographed nuthatches, various tits (blue, great, and coal), a female chaffinch, and this goldcrest (alas, tiny and distant) washing in the waterfalls of a rock garden. I also saw fish in ornamental ponds; bumble bees in ornamental grasses; and a jay, parakeets, and lots of crows; but no rooks...

I'll be back.

Today's others are here (or right from Wood pigeon under pergola)
