...this Portugese millipede has moved into a fallen egg shell and looking very snug, thank you very much!
This dude, as the name implies, is not a local but naturally occurring in south west Europe. First recorded in Australia here in the hills east of Perth in 1986 they are now a regular in the landscape and as millipedes in general a useful composter of leaf litter and soil enrichment.
Sometimes too an invading army in a house where they are not so welcome
First autumn rains bring them out in droves and it seems this curious weather of late with dry and rain is doing the same.
