The last of the poppies
This little patch of poppies has been blooming all Summer. They are tucked away on abit of wasteland near the car wash in Jemimaville. While Mike was washing the car I went for a wander.I wanted to get a shot of a yacht that was moored just off the shore and was reflecting beautifully in the water but I could not get a clear shot. There were large groups of golden eye bobbing about. The sea was very calm with a very high tide.
We had been to Cromarty first and treated ourselves to a pizza. The Ecoventure boat went out on one of it’s last trips this year.We really must get a trip out next year.
I think I saw a Goshawk. At first I thought sparrowhawk but it did not look quite right, then peregrine , not that either. It had a distinctive white patch at the base of it’s tail and quite a large bird.
The water was very high at the tide, coming over the land beyond the fence.A few redwings were busy feeding on the Rowan berries. The swans and their cygnets were in the river along with plenty of wigeon.
Home to get ready for a trip over the weekend to celebrate Richard’s 30th Birthday :)
