Powder Puff

A week or so ago, I had a message from a couple of botanists from our Natural History Society about an unusual fungus they had seen whilst out on a plant walk. I forwarded the photo to a couple of people who I thought might be able to identify it and one came back with a fairly confident ID of 
Postia ptychogaster  the Powder Puff Fungus. I went to check it out today, and fortunately it had just about survived the heavy rain.
