Collection

I'm not really one of life's collectors, but I have ended up (with encouragement from certain other members of the family) collecting this wonderful periodical of archaeology in my home county. They started being published when the society of the same name first existed in 1846 and are still going.

A local second-hand bookshop tweeted a photo of a selection of their archaeological books the other day and I noticed one of them was one of this collection that I didn't have, so I asked them if they could reserve it and went and purchased it that afternoon. The bookshop owner said he had some more books to sort through and, if I let him have a list of the ones I need, he would contact me again if he had any of them. I did this and today he called to say he has another three for me (at a reasonable price, too).

I'm not sure offhand what proportion I have of the whole collection now, but there is still a way to go! There are various complete collections that I know of held by various local institutions and, when my collection is finally complete, I might well donate it to a good cause - although not until I've run out of things to look up for my research, which is unlikely to be any time soon!
