Spot the lighthouse #5
W(h)ales no more was the chant as we left Hermanus, having watched South Africa grind down our leek and daffodil hugging neighbours in a disappointingly turgid semi final Rugby World Cup match. We were almost feeling like regulars in the Blue Buck Pub but opted for a seafood restaurant for lunch rather than sit for longer with our ebullient Springbock supporting neighbours.
We were next heading for Mossel Bay but wanted to take in Cape Aghulas so we could tell my brother that we had indeed visited the most southerly point on the African mainland. It all took a bit longer than we had expected and the weather turned a bit wet, but luckily our Booking.com choice for the night was better than we had hoped for. A spacious, quirky, recently renovated older property close to the waterfront in Mossel Bay with an interesting owner who was keen to chat.
