Grandiosity Begins at Home
We looked like Michelin men persons as we set off for our walk this morning. It was clear and frosty and the ground was quite frozen in spots. We walked through the fields to Dana's house, avoiding most of the creeks. Ozzie doesn't seem to mind the cold at all and he is, after all from Labrador. Well, his breed is--he's never even crossed the California border--so it seemed unnecessary for him to cavort endlessly in near frozen water!
Although it was swathed in a bubble of plastic with no appliances or counters, I was able to take a peek at the paint colors that our shared designer, Drue (pronounced Drew) chose for Dana. It's nice to have these little previews of what we will be doing in another month. (with the added benefit that we will be eating in her brand new kitchen every night!)
I talked Rick and Meg into staying another day, so we set off for the lighting store recommended by Drue to find a lamp for our living room. Puffy white clouds in a blue sky had replaced the dull clouds and rain of yesterday. Meg's phone guided us flawlessly to the store, but I still parked in the lot for the taco place next door thinking their drive-thru lane was a connecting road to the lighting store. Why must these malls make it so difficult to get into any given store? I retract that question--clearly I can't blame my directional limitations on the developers!
With my new German lamp ("The Ultimate Lighting Machines") wrapped up and stowed in the back of my "Ultimate Driving Machine" we headed home. Now that's what I call satisfying instant gratification! I went, I was helped and educated, and I touched the very lamp that I brought home with me! Rick fetched the car from the taco lot and drove us home.
Chris, the furniture builder is coming tomorrow to address our shelving needs in what I am grandly calling "The Library". It has a nice ring to it even if it is only a wall. (...after all it's really only a lamp, or a car...)
