Megarachne

We spent the day in Cambridge with two friends A and J who live near Southend-on-Sea. We started with coffee and cake in John Lewis and finished at the same place with more coffee and cake. We visited the Sedgwick Museum during the morning; this is my favourite museum. Then we had a leisurely lunch in Carluccio’s where they got two of the four lunches wrong; we sent them back and they re-cooked them. Then during the afternoon we visited The Whipple Museum, which is my husband’s favourite museum. It was a good day, with good weather and we will do it again sometime.

There are always a lot of spiders around during the Autumn, so I thought today would be a good day to use this picture. I am not keen on spiders although tolerate them if they keep their distance. I was quite safe from this one as it was in a glass case, which is why it is a poor quality picture. Actually it is not a spider, but a Megarachne is a genus of eurypterid an extinct group of aquatic arthropods.

The temperature at GMT noon was nine degrees Celsius; a frosty misty morning, followed by lovely sunshine all day.
