My mom's ankle is still a bit full looking, but she didn't complain of any pain and didn't have a noticeable limp, so we went from a sitting visit, shown here, to a walk around the Whatcom Community College parking lot. While there, we saw a man sitting on a walker, not really dressed for the brisk temperature. I asked him if he was okay, if he was warm enough, but he didn't seem to hear or understand. He did try to pet the dogs, though. I kept my eye on him and thought about calling 911 in case he was a lost wanderer, but by the time we did our loop he had gotten up and walked himself back toward the assisted living place next to Silverado. I recognized my mom in that man's drive to be independent, outside, under his own command, even if a little lost looking  and poorly dressed.
