Breaching the Flodden Wall

I'd never walked down this small street next to George Heriots before and found a piece of the Flodden Wall - a defence built around part of Edinburgh in 1513. Above the filled in window on the "frame" is an inscription announcing that the council had made a window in the wall in 1873!
