Getting his adult plumage
After spending a good part of this Labour Day holiday from work on sorting the study, I ran (with walks) through Arch Hill reserve (where I took the first extra) to get to Western Springs Lake. Once again the dabchick and its little ones was not seen.
However, I did see a putangitangi family on the edge of one of the smaller lakes. I've included that as the second extra. As I was heading towards the path out of the park, I saw a young male putangitangi (Paradise shelduck), whose adult plumage is coming. I was able to get close enough without him startling to get the main photo for today
