Dinosaur adventures

Today has been all about dinosaurs! We went to the Dinosaur Isle Museum where we spent a good hour travelling through time and looking at all the different creatures that have lived on planet Earth. It was interesting to learn that so many discoveries have been found on the island including some new species.

After a picnic lunch we joined the Fossil walk on the beach. A real life palaeontologist showed us how to identify fossils and was on hand to say what everything was. Amongst lots of flint, clay and old bits of coal we did manage to find some fossilised wood, some fossilised sea sponges and sea snails. Our piece de resistance however was a bit of dinosaur bone thought to have been around 120 million years old!!!! What a find!!!!
