Skate Park
CyclopsJnr just about managed the extra hour in bed, so Cyclops got some benefit from the clocks going back this year...
For a special treat we had bacon rolls for breakfast, then did some more painting on CyclopsJnr's wooden aeroplane. CyclopsJnr wanted to go biking and the weather looked perfect for it. We looked at places to go on our cycling maps and books, but in the end CyclopsJnr chose to bike to Victoria Park to save going anywhere in the car.
There was glorious autumn sunshine and we enjoyed our ride. The park was full of families and kids, and CyclopsJnr quickly befriended a dog and one of the boys in the same group (who was of course about 10 - he always adopts older boys). The dog and boys all chased a ball a lot, as well as playing tig in the park and climing/sliding everything in sight. I had to drag CyclopsJnr away after an hour so we could get lunch. Total distance cycled was just over 9 miles.
After lunch we made a fort using templates from a book on The Romans which his great aunt sent for him.
The main afternoon activity was a trip to the swimming pool in Falkirk, where we got a good hour of entertainment and thoroughly wore someone out... He did some really good swimming - he's getting the hang of it now, although his style still leaves a lot to be desired (it's not yet possible to identify a specific stroke in use most of the time...)
Finally we had dinner together - he wanted a reprise of the grilled salmon with rice, sweetcorn and peas we had last week, so that's what we had.
He's been a thoroughly happy and charming boy today.
He fell asleep VERY quickly.
