Coniston Coppermines Day 3

The wind was very fierce during the night, accompanied by torrential rain - which wasn't what was forecast so we weren't too hopeful for today. But, after cleaning the hut and packing up, three of us decided to go and do it anyway, a local grade 1*** scramble! It is my birthday after all :-)

It began spitting as we drove down the Coppermines lane and parked, but we managed not to talk each other out of it and set off.

It wasn't very long, or very sustained, but it was good fun and the rock remained grippy in the wet, in fact my fingertips got a bit sore as I didn't have any suitable gloves with me.

We were back at the cars in less than two hours, so walked down to the village for coffee, before Mary and Fiona left for home and I drove to Ambleside YHA for the night.
