Stacking boxes
Jeff, our tower captain, drove 500 kilometres to get to this afternoon's bell practice after a failed peal attempt in Ypres the day before. (Yes, bell ringers are mad). Ypres and Dordrecht are the only other places in Europe where bells are hung for change ringing. The boxes in the photo were made for us and stack like Russian dolls. They are used by shorter people and children to stand on. In the morning, I joined friends for coffee, cake and rugby and enjoyed England's exceptional performance. I was just back to the market in time to buy my fish and crow to Patrique the fishmonger who had been listening on his radio.
