Memorial Stone

After Saturday’s great weather Sunday was a bit dreich and damp; that was a bit sad as we were orienteering at Teviothead in the Borders on a hilly and open area. As it happened it wasn’t too windy so I really quite enjoyed the experience and had a reasonable run. However the weather wasn’t remotely conducive for blipping. By where we parked was a memorial to Johnny Armstrong, a Border Reiver killed by James V as he was seen as a threat to the crown. The bad bit being he was invited to meet the king and was guaranteed his safety so came unarmed with his clan in their finest clothes and this seemed to flip the young king who ordered them to be killed. The mass burial was near Teviothead and there is an information board and this old lichen and moss covered stone as the only reminder.

Yesterday’s blip.
