The Gatehouse.
Entrance to Christ's College Cambridge. The heraldic detail has been restored, after research into the original colours and methods used. Lady Margaret Beaufort, grandmother of Henry VIII, founded the college in the early 1500's. Much of the façade, including the oak doors, date from the 1500's and remained largely unchanged until the masonry was refaced with harder stone in 1714. As it was a grey day, I enhanced the colour. I have tried before to get a shot of this entrance, sparkling in the sunshine, but it is obscured by a taxi rank. I found a spot between the cars although it is off centre. Another person was trying to get a photo of her friend who is standing in front of the gate but it wasn't a good position.
