Flogging A Dead Horse

Today MrsDroog and I took a bus tour of Louisville. It was a most informative and interesting experience, lasting just over an hour.

The mid-point of the tour was a visit to Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, which is run in May and has been for 144 years. The statue by the Museum is of Barbaro, the horse which won the 2007 race, but broke a leg next time out and died of a post-surgical infection. His owners requested that the horse be buried at Churchill Downs and so it was, directly beneath the statue.

We didn't visit the museum and we politely declined the invitation to take the 'backside tour'.
