Richard the Lionheart.
Hubby went to London on the early train train this morning. It was still dark at 6.00 am. He had a Board meeting and had to pass College Green, where all the media people are all camped out surrounded by Union Jack flags, EU flags, Welsh flags and placards to name a few.It was the day which the WIthdrawal Agreement Bill or henceforth know as WAB (!) would be put to Parliament for a vote.
I am not writing about what happened this evening as it is all over the News and Media, but about what hubby noted as he passed by the collection of Leavers and Remainers with their flags and costumes in Westminster on his way back to get the train home.
In his words, "There was just something very British about it. They were not arguing, ("thank goodness,"- that's my words), but standing around chatting to each other, and the tourists, or passers by, whilst holding their banners and unfurled standards.
In the midst of all this strode a man dressed like Richard the Lionheart, in full regalia, declaiming "Arrest Burcow! " in a loud voice.
Somehow that seemed a typically English sense of humour!
Hubby didn't have time to take a photo, unfortunately or he would have missed his train.
Made me laugh and goodness knows we need some light relief these days.
I took the photo early afternoon after being at French Book Club this morning and in between our friend coming to tea, now a regular Tuesday evening occurrence. It is the pampas grass in our neighbours' garden.
It looked lovely in the sunshine set against the arch for the clematis and the blue of the sky.
