The Lozarithm Lens

Calne (Tuesday 22nd October 2019)

I went on a round about ramble all over Calne today, hunting for a blip, preferably something I hadn't covered before. I spent a while at the church as Perry, Calne's peregrine, has been seen there recently quite regularly, but judging by the relaxed behaviour of a great deal of starlings, he wasn't expected back anytime soon. When I climbed up to Castle Walk from Chaveywell I noticed a lot of insect action on this ivy that grows on the side of a rather grand house, and so I bring you one wasp.

Van Morrison And Joey DeFrancesco - Sticks And Stones (2018)
Van Morrison (vcl) and Joey DeFrancesco (Hammond org, kbds, vcl) with Dan Wilson (gtr), Troy Roberts (ten sax), Michael Ode (dr)
Van Morrison has been performing this Ray Charles cover, written by Titus Turner, since the early nineties if not before, but doesn't seem to have recorded it until 2018, for the album You're Driving Me Crazy, a collaboration with Joey DeFrancesco. It's a mixture of old jazz blues numbers and re-visits of Van Morrison compositions from earlier albums, Astral Weeks (1968) to Magic Time (2005). On Sticks And Stones there seem to be two back-up vocalists though only one is credited. I gave the CD a second spin this morning.
