AWRE Inspiring

We were up early (especially for a Sunday) for a drive over to the East coast. Annie had booked us on a photography trip to Orford Ness, specifically to visit the now derelict structures that were used in the development of military technologies for both the world wars and the Cold war that followed WW2. Of particular interest were the structures used by the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment (AWRE) and although there are regular trips to Orford Ness, access to these structures is usually not allowed apart from events like today.

After 2.5 hours drive, at 9.15am we were all present and small group together with representatives from the National Trust (who run the site now), were taken by boat across to Orford Ness. We had a fabulous day of windy but fairly mild conditions. The light was ever changing, grey cloud initially gave way to blue skies before some very heavy looking clouds appeared (although no rain, hurrah). 

We absolutely loved it and both have hundreds of photos making it very difficult to chose a blip (so we've also put on a rapidly chosen selection of extras).
