Seal Colony at Point Munning, NE Chatham Island

Such a fascinating day today! Apart from spontaneous stops to photograph random things that appealed, we headed for the Hapupu Reserve, to see the famed Moriori Rakau Momori - the tree carvings, or dendroglyphs. Absolutely fascinating. I can’t blip one as we’ve been asked to just use our photographs for personal use, which means not putting them in a public place. I wish I could.
But then, on our way to Point Munning to see the sea colony we called in and saw the remains of a huge Sunderland Flying Boat, which sank at the Chathams in WWII. It’s immense!
The seals themselves were so endearing, the young ones in particular.
Also intriguing was a nesting Shag with a young one, nestled into a rocky crag.
