Up and out first thing for the 9.10 flight to Rome. Straightforward enough, as was the Leonardo Express train from Fiumicino Airport to Stazione Termini and then the Metro to the nearest stop to our apartment. This is the view from the kitchen of the neighbouring rooftops from our 8th floor abode for the next four nights.

It's an area that's not very touristy, and about 30-40 minutes walk south-east of the Colosseo / Forum area. A walk that we did in the name of exploration along with an ice-cream stop, a drink stop, a restaurant stop and the odd sit-down stop to combat the mid-twenties temperatures that we're not really accustomed to in October!

And then walked back in the dark through the surrounding neighbourhoods, pausing only to make the acquaintance of the local corner shop's shop-keeper with his large fridge of very cheap and very cold Italian beer. I think us and Rome are going to get on famously.
