Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Winter Vacation Sunset #1

This morning we left the Inland Empire at 9:50. Four hours of driving and we knew we'd be to our destination. We stopped for lunch at 12:38 and all of us (that would be the two of us and the three critters) stretched our legs. Exactly 50 minutes later we were back on the road. We exited the freeway in San Luis Obispo to stop at the Apple Computer store, the Target store, and then at Trader Joe's. So with the shopping completed, we got back in the car and pointed ourselves west toward the coastline. We arrived at the place we'll be staying approximately at 4:00 p.m. That was approximately 65 or so minutes before sunset (which I think is 5:05).

Seems like it takes forever to unload the car and while we were doing that the sun was nonchalantly slipping toward the horizon . . . all of a sudden the "Show Fantastic" was happening right there for anyone who could spare a moment to marvel at the spectacle. And I did! I NEVER get tired of this sunset moment. I watch while breathing deep and sighing (I know, I'm plain crazy).

Honestly this is the best entertainment that happens every day and it's free. It is about a two-hour show (that is if I'll give it the time). Most of us don't have the time to just stare and wonder at the changing mural, so I'm going to do my best during these days of vacation just to wonder and marvel my way through each day and especially during the sunset moments.

We're on California's Central Coast, in case you were wondering where we are. Our favorite bit of geography lies between Morro Bay and Monterey and we are immensely blessed to be able to spend leisure moments here and we plan to do so for a good portion of January. I do not have to be back in the classroom until February 12 (woohoo).

Good night from California's Central Coast.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, Chloe, Mitzi, and Max), aka Carol
