Pre-dawn magic

There is something almost magical about the still, silent, misty growth of day after a clear and frosty night (you should have seen my car!) when light gradually increases and the foggy haze in the valleys recedes and vanishes. Less than five minutes after this, a golden shard of sunlight rose over the hills and day dawned.
