Phacelia

There are lots of Phacelia on the fields.
They are not only important food for the bees and many other insects.
Phacelia is also very suitable as a green manure plant.
"With its dense root system, it makes good use of the nutrient reserves in the soil and, after rotting, easily transfers them to the successor fruit. It leaves a densely rooted, gare crumb. The slender leaves lead to a very good soil shading and effective weed suppression. The high levels of organic matter remaining in the soil maintain or increase the humus content and thus the productivity of the soil. As a result, the soil structure is improved, and the yield is increasing in the long term on lighter soils." (German Wikipedia, tranlated by google)
And they  have beautiful buds (see extra)

Thank you Barking for hosting Tiny Tuesday in October :-)
